CLINIC TRAINER

Position Summary
The Clinic Trainer leads skill development sessions at FCA clinics and camps, helping athletes grow in both their athletic abilities and character. Trainers are expected to provide high-quality instruction while modeling FCA’s values and, when possible, sharing their personal faith in Christ. Clinic Trainers may work with athletes of various ages and ability levels in a group setting.
Key Responsibilities
Athletic Instruction
- Teach age-appropriate fundamentals of the sport (ball handling, passing, shooting, defense, etc.).
- Demonstrate proper techniques and break down skills for athletes of all levels.
- Lead drills, skill stations, and small group activities during clinics.
- Emphasize effort, discipline, and sportsmanship as part of athletic growth.
Spiritual & Character Development
- Support the FCA mission by integrating positive character lessons and encouragement.
- If a Christ follower: share testimony, lead or assist in devotionals, and model faith through words and actions.
- If not a Christ follower: respect FCA’s beliefs and support the spiritual leadership of FCA staff and volunteers.
Team Support
- Work alongside coaches, volunteers, and other trainers to provide a unified clinic experience.
- Encourage and mentor athletes during clinics, both in skill and personal growth.
- Provide feedback to the Program Director about athlete development or clinic needs.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience in the sport (playing or coaching background preferred).
- Ability to teach and communicate effectively with youth athletes.
- Team-oriented with a positive and encouraging attitude.
- Supportive of FCA’s mission and values.
- Christ follower preferred, but not required (must respect FCA’s beliefs and spiritual leadership).
Training & Requirements
- FCA Child Safety Policy Training & Background Check (required).
- Volunteer Impact Portal Application and Child Abuse Training (California)
- CPR/First Aid Certification (recommended).
