Prayer Captain

Position Summary
The Prayer Captain provides spiritual support and prayer covering for the FCA League. As a committed Christ follower, the Prayer Captain intentionally prays with and for athletes, coaches, referees, families, and volunteers. This role helps ensure that the spiritual foundation of the league remains strong by pointing people to Christ through prayer and encouragement.
Key Responsibilities
Spiritual Leadership
- Live as an example of a Christ follower in word, action, and prayer life.
- Lead prayers before and after games as directed by the Program Director.
- Cover league leadership, volunteers, coaches, and athletes in ongoing prayer.
- Encourage coaches and referees spiritually throughout the season.
- Be available to pray with families, athletes, or volunteers as needs arise.
League Integration
- Support Head Coaches in leading team huddles and devotionals.
- Partner with Program Director to integrate prayer into league gatherings, meetings, and special events.
- Help create an atmosphere where Christ is honored and welcomed.
Encouragement & Care
- Provide encouragement and a listening ear for those serving in the league.
- Watch for opportunities to care for hurting or struggling athletes and families (always within FCA’s safety guidelines).
- Connect individuals to local churches or FCA staff for deeper discipleship when appropriate.
Qualifications
- Committed follower of Jesus Christ with a strong prayer life.
- Heart for ministry, discipleship, and encouragement.
- Ability to pray confidently in public settings.
- Good relational and listening skills.
- Must be approved by FCA and Host Church
- Supportive of FCA’s mission, vision, and statement of faith.
Training & Requirements
- FCA Child Safety Policy Training & Background Check (required).
- Volunteer Impact Portal Application and Child Abuse Training (California)
