Head Coach

Division Commissioner & Program Director

Position Summary
The Head Coach serves as both a coach and spiritual mentor to athletes, leading with Christ-like character on and off the court/field. Head Coaches are expected to be Christ followers with a heart to disciple students, modeling the values of FCA and creating a safe, fun, and faith-centered team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Spiritual Leadership
- Live as an example of a Christ follower in word, action, and attitude.
- Lead team huddles, prayer, and devotionals at practices and games.
- Disciple athletes by integrating biblical principles into coaching.
- Encourage and mentor assistant coaches, helping them grow in their faith and leadership.
Coaching & Team Development
- Teach age-appropriate skills and fundamentals of the sport.
- Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and character development.
- Ensure every athlete has opportunities to participate and grow.
- Manage practices and game strategies in alignment with league philosophy.
Leadership & Administration
- Communicate clearly and consistently with parents, players, and league staff.
- Partner with referees, gym hosts, and other volunteers to create a positive game-day environment.
- Ensure safety, discipline, and order at all team activities.
- Attend mandatory league meetings, trainings, and events.
Qualifications
- Committed follower of Jesus Christ with a lifestyle that reflects biblical values.
- Passion for mentoring and discipling young athletes.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of the sport and ability to teach fundamentals.
- Willingness to serve under FCA’s mission and leadership structure.
Training & Requirements
- Completion of FCA Coaches Orientation.
- FCA Child Safety Policy Training & Background Check (required).
- Volunteer Impact Portal Application and Child Abuse Training (California)
- CPR/First Aid Certification (recommended).
