Assistant Coach
Reports To: Head Coach & Division Commissioner

Position Summary
The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in developing athletes spiritually, mentally, and physically. While not required to be a Christ follower, Assistant Coaches must respect and uphold the mission, vision, and values of FCA. This role helps create a safe, positive, and encouraging environment for athletes while reinforcing the leadership of the Head Coach.
Key Responsibilities
Positive Role Model
- Respect and support the spiritual leadership of the Head Coach and FCA staff.
- Participate in team huddles, prayers, and devotionals led by the Head Coach or Prayer Captain.
- Model good sportsmanship, encouragement, and respect for all players, referees, and families.
Coaching & Team Development
- Assist with drills, practices, and game-day responsibilities.
- Encourage athletes and reinforce instruction from the Head Coach.
- Promote teamwork, effort, and character development.
- Step in to lead when the Head Coach is unavailable.
Leadership & Administration
- Help with set-up and clean-up of practices and games.
- Maintain positive communication with athletes, parents, and league volunteers.
- Support league rules, safety standards, and FCA’s philosophy of play.
- Attend mandatory league orientation and training.
Qualifications
- Enthusiasm for working with youth athletes.
- Ability to support the mission and values of FCA, even if not a Christ follower.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Basic understanding of the sport and willingness to learn.
- Commitment to providing a safe, encouraging, and fun environment for athletes.
Training & Requirements
- Completion of FCA Coaches Orientation.
- FCA Child Safety Policy Training & Background Check (required).
- Volunteer Impact Portal Application and Child Abuse Training (California)
- CPR/First Aid Certification (recommended).
